자국의 대부분의 병원들이 아직 환자에게 필요한 서비스 요구사항을 충족시키지 못해서 성장하는 국내의료시장을 감당 할 수 없을 위험에 처해있음. 보건부 자료에 따르면 2012년부터 국립병원 인증위원회(KARS)의 인증을 받은 병원은 308개에 불과(전국 병원 전체의 20.8%에만 해당함). 인증된 병원은 1,200개가 넘는 항목으로 병원을 심사함. 정부는 병원에게 JCI(Joint Commission International)가 감독하는 국제 인증표준을 신청하는 것을 권고함. 하지만 정부가 통제하는 대부분의 병원은 이 절차를 복잡한 것으로 간주하여 인증 신청을 꺼려함.

The country is at risk of being unable to cater for the growing domestic demand for health care, as most of hospitals in the nation have yet to meet necessary service-quality requirements for patients. Health Ministry data showed that there are only 308 hospitals or equal to 20.8 percent of total hospitals nationwide that have been accredited by the National Hospital Accreditation Committee (KARS) since 2012. The accreditation measures hospitals by more than 1,200 variables before they can be considered qualified. Hospitals are also encouraged to apply for the international accreditation standard overseen by Joint Commission International (JCI). Many hospitals, mostly those controlled by the government, regard the process as convoluted, making them reluctant to apply for the accreditation.
