○ GDP 대비 의료비 지출은 2.5%로 낮은 수준을 보이고 있음. 지난 2002년 이후 지속적으로 하락세를 보이고 있음
- 3.6%(‘90) → 3.6%(’95) → 3.2%(‘00) → 3.5%(’02) → 2.7%(‘04) → 2.5(’08)
○ 총 의료비 지출 중 1/3은 민간 부분이, 2/3는 정부가 담당하고 있으며 우리나라 및 중동지역 평균, 세계 평균과 비교했을 때 상당히 높은 수준임
