Greeting

Korea Health Industry Development Institute:
Leading Korea’s Biohealth Industry Forward, Together

We warmly welcome you to the Korea Health Industry Development Institute’s website.

For over two decades, the Korea Health Industry Development Institute (KHIDI) has supported the growth of Korea’s biohealth industry by bridging industry and policy to advance the health industry and improve public health.

Today, the biohealth industry is rapidly emerging as a strategic national asset and a key engine of future growth as global competition for leadership intensifies. This is a critical time for Korea’s biohealth industry to move from a “follower” to a “leader” in the global market.

Accordingly, KHIDI will continue to advance the following four key priorities as it strives to become a “world-class agency specializing in biohealth innovation.”

  • Establishing a National Platform for Biohealth Innovation Policy
We will develop comprehensive policies across the entire biohealth lifecycle, including R&D, industry development, workforce development, and global market expansion, while ensuring that they reflect the needs of both industry and government.
  • Creating an AI-Driven Biohealth and Digital Health Innovation Ecosystem
We will strategically foster the medical AI and digital health sectors, promote the safe use and standardization of healthcare data, and enhance the infrastructure for real-world validation to support commercialization.
  • Expanding the Commercialization and Global Reach of Innovative R&D Outcomes
We will strengthen an end-to-end commercialization framework to help foundational technologies developed through innovation-driven R&D programs, such as the K-Health MIRAE Initiative (Korean ARPA-H), lead to startup creation, investment attraction, regulatory approvals, and global market entry.
  • Promoting Balanced National Development Through Regional Biohealth Cluster Development
We will advance collaboration among industry, academia, research institutions, and healthcare providers and foster regionally specialized biohealth industries to build a robust innovation ecosystem nationwide.

Guided by public value, industry engagement, and professional expertise, KHIDI will do its utmost to create opportunities for researchers to innovate, provide industry with new growth engines, and help people lead healthier lives.

We look forward to your continued interest and support as we work together toward a new future for Korea’s biohealth industry.

Thank you.

President of the Korea Health Industry Development Institute Koh Sang-baek
