Development of novel broad spectrum of antiviral immunoglobulin, hzVSF

Summary

- Virus Suppressing Factor (VSF) was isolated from virus-infected mouse.
The ImmuneMed Inc., further developed to humanized immunoglobulin, hzVSF, and
applies to anti-viral and anti-inflammatory treatment
- VSF receptor (VR) against hzVSF expresses only in virus-infected cells, and hzVSF
regulates the cell through the receptor.
- Because hzVSF is targeting to virus-infected cells, hzVSF shows the therapeutic effect
for a variety of viral infection including influenza virus, hepatitis B and C virus.

Remarkable

- Anti-viral substance which is secreted from encephalomyocarditis virus (EMCV) infected
mouse was isolated.
- The isolated substance was named Virus Suppressing Factor (VSF) and humanized to
human immunoglobulin to further use.
- VSF receptor (VR) against hzVSF was identified and elucidated the binding. VR does not express the healthy cell, but find only specific expression on the virus-infected cells.
- hzVSF targets a common characterization of the host cell due to viral infection.
- ImmuneMed discovers novel specific target protein that expresses only in the viral
infected cells for the World`s first.
∙ It is possible to develop in multi-purpose anti-viral therapeutic agent for a variety
spectrum of virus.
∙ hzVSF will be solve the drug-resistant problem caused by frequent mutations of the
virus.
- Using in silico immunoprofiling sevice and in vitro cellular assay, the candidate
substance which shows less immunogenic and enhanced anti-viral activity was deduced
and determined.
- Features of candidate hzVSF
∙ Features of Effect: offer inhibition of viral replication and suppression of inflammation
∙ hzVSF suppresses the damage of viral infected cells caused by the immunopathological phenomena
∙ hzVSF can be clinically treated with a small amount due to VR which is only expressed in viral infected cells and will be less to cause side effects.
∙ hzVSF is effective after showing clinical symptoms in patients with acute or chronic
viral diseases.
